This course will introduce the student to the study of legal discourse. We will focus on the basic topics and forms of law and legal argumentation as found in case-law, statutes and scholarship. If time permits, we will consider the relationship between legal and social discourse found in popular culture. Students will be encouraged to consider the parallels between legal and rhetorical issues.
