Congratulations to Giancarlo Cornejo!

Giancarlo Cornejo graduated with a Ph.D. in Rhetoric with a Designated Emphasis in Women, Gender and Sexuality from the University of California, Berkeley in 2018. His dissertation, Travesti Memory and Politics: Toward a Peruvian Transgender Imaginary, proposes travestismo as a critical tool to read the unstable and contested production of gender, sexuality, and race in contemporary Peru. Giancarlo will serve as President’s Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UC Davis for 2019-2020, and then join the division of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Southern California as an assistant professor in 2020.
