How do property and ownership condition the possibilities of our lives? In this course, we will attempt to answer that question and others provoked by it through critical rhetorical analyses of symbolic and material manifestations of property and ownership. We will consider, read, and write about ownership of bodies, lands, laws, knowledges, cultures, representations, and institutions. Our course will focus on developing our ability to research, write, and revise a 10 to 12-page manuscript. Over the course of the semester, we will build on what was learned in R1A to write an original research paper. We will collaborate to choose a research topic, discover and cite credible sources, create a useful literature review, as well as craft clear theses, purposes, and justifications in our writing. Our course will practice the interconnectedness of reading, thinking, and writing.
